Sophia's first flight

Its been awhile since I was last on here but things get crazy with a husband, house and a now 3 month old. This time last year I didn't even know you were coming, I was still unsure about the status of my fertility and still scared I'd never have you. Here you are, 3 months old sleeping on my lap flying back home to Hawaii from Texas. Not many 3 month olds fly, let alone over an ocean TWICE. We had so much fun in Texas, but leaving my mom is a lot harder than I thought it would be the second time around. She's my best friend and I hope I can be that for my daughter too. 2 hours left until we land in Hawaii, 8 hours with an infant .. Am
I crazy? Probably.

Sophias Photoshoot!

Worth The Wait

Sophia Michelle Lynn Altonji entered this crazy world at 14:04 (2:04pm) Hawaii Time. She weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20.5 inches long! She is the light of my life and my favorite person in this world now (Sorry Matt!) We are in absolute LOVE with this little girl and I can't imagine not having her by my side.

Playing Catch-Up!

The last 3 months of my pregnancy flew by pretty fast. My due date of April 2nd came and went and finally on April 11th I was induced! Matt and I checked in at TAMC labor and delivery at 2:30pm and started the process. I was still only 1cm dilated and 75% effaced upon arrival so they placed a foley bulb to manually dilate. While doing so they accidentally broke my water, it squirted out of the catheter like a fountain haha! Within and hour I was at a 4 and we started the Pitocin drip. Overnight I dilated to a 5 and the contractions were horrible! The drip made them 10x worse and they were 1-3 minutes apart! I finally gave in and took the epidural at 3am and it was HEAVEN! my legs were non existent and felt like they weighed a million pounds! Matt and I fell asleep and I woke up at 6am to my drip at 20 and nurses rushing in to flip me over. Sophias heart rate was dropping an we didn't know why. After too many decels we stopped the drip and I was given a shot of Turb to stop the contractions. Cervix check revealed I was at a 6 and 90% effaced! I was so tired and hungry, the only think I had to eat was Mcdonalds breakfast at 5am the morning before. We started the drip again at a 2 to see how she would handle it this time, we ended up stopping and restarting 3 more times before the doctors and nurses rushed in for the 4th time to get me on my hands and knees to get Sophia's heart rate back. This was not an easy feat for someone who can't feel anything from the belly button down. I cried, a lot because I knew something was wrong. My doctor came in and said we have 30 minutes to monitor before a c-section was needed. BAM, heart rate down to 50 and it wasn't coming back up. My heart sank and they finally got me into a position to fix her heart rate. I had wires and catheters and monitors everywhere! Two IV's, external fetal and contraction belts, internal heart monitor, internal contraction monitor, a catheter and Sophia had a monitor on her head! I felt like a science experiment. After 23 long hours of labor, I was prepped for an emergency c-section. Matt got into his scrubs and we were on our way down the long hallway. It was an odd experience, I felt a lot of it.. Pressure wise and it was unreal. I was upset but knew it was necessary for the health of Sophia and I. She had the cord wrapped around her neck- twice! As soon as they popped her over the curtain I cried. I was a mom! I couldn't believe it.

Maternity Shoot!

Here are some of the maternity photos we had taken by a great friend who was kind enough to do them as a gift!
Of course all Matt wanted to do was play in the ocean but we got some amazing shots! Can't wait to frame them and hang them up in the nursery!

January 2nd, Third Trimester!

27 weeks marked the third trimester. The last 3 months I'm sure are going to creep by and I'm growing more and more impatient. Sophia has been moving so much more lately and my insomnia has kicked in full force. I can't sleep at night, my sides are sore and I just cannot get comfortable at all! We are finally at 28 weeks and 2 days.. not too much longer now!

Imaptient at 16 weeks 4 days

I was way too impatient to wait until our 20 week anatomy scan to find out the gender of our little love bug so we went for an elective ultrasound at 16 weeks, 4 days!
As you can see, Matthew is in TROUBLE because now he has two ladies to cater to! I preferred a little boy as a first baby but I was overjoyed to find out I was having a "mini me". Hello, Sophia! We love you so much already.
